A Private Family Graveside Service for Cheryl L. (Barnes) Neubauer will be held at the Alma Cemetery, Alma, Nebraska.
Cheryl Lynn (Barnes) Neubauer, 77 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Alma, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney. Cheryl was born on May 27, 1949, at Alma, the second of three children, to Ernest and Lydia L. (Garrelts) Barnes. She received her education and graduated from Alma Public Schools.
Cheryl was united in marriage to the love of her life, Fred Neubauer and shortly after their marriage he was deployed to the Viet Nam War. Fred preceded her in death on February 5, 1969, while serving his country. Cheryl was a proud Gold Star wife.
Cheryl enjoyed spending time with her family, especially around the holidays. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed collecting all types of ducks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lydia Barnes; and husband, Fred.
Cheryl leaves to celebrate her life: her son, Jerry A. Neubauer and his wife, Connie of Kearney; two grandsons: Mason Neubauer; and Fletcher Neubauer, both of Kearney; brother, Bill Barnes and wife, Margaret Mary of Reeds Spring, Missouri; and nephew, Bryan Barnes and family of Shell Knob, Missouri; sister, Linda Graf and husband, Richard of Holdrege; and nieces: Tiffany Silva and family of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Jamie Partridge and family of Holdrege; along with, other relatives, and friends.
There will not be a visitation, viewing or memorial book signing the evening prior to the service. The family is honoring her wish for cremation and a private service.
A memorial has been established in Cheryl's honor and kindly suggested to the family.
