A funeral service for Chris L. Buettner will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Father Jay Buhman officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.
Christopher Lee "Chris" Buettner, 63 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. Chris was born in Holdrege on December 2, 1962, the youngest of six children, born to Joe and Jeanette (Kinnamon) Buettner. He received his education at Holdrege Public Schools and graduated from Holdrege High School in 1981. He pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Growing up, Chris excelled in sports; he played football, shot trap, and played second base on the championship Midget Baseball team in 1979. His trap team was runner-up at the National Cornhusker Trap Shoot in 1981.
Following his education, Chris started working for the Nebraska Department of Roads. On March 17, 1987, Chris started working at Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District in Holdrege. He worked there as a Surveying Technician for almost 38 years.
On July 2, 2004, Chris was united in marriage to Teresa Debban in Holdrege. Chris enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, and watching Nebraska Volleyball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Judy Cox.
Chris is survived by his wife, Teresa Buettner of Holdrege; two step children: Cody Hashman and his wife, Taylor of Buffalo, New York; Jennifer Brown and her husband, Christopher of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three grandchildren: Bobby Mac Hashman; and Henry and Emilia Brown; two brothers: Michael Buettner of Holdrege, Jeff Buettner and his wife, Stacy of Holdrege; two sisters: Susan Langan and her husband, Jack of Omaha, Nebraska; and Kathy Osborn and her husband, Greg of Kearney; his father-in-law and mother-in-law; Richard and Donna Debban of Waverly, Iowa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Tim Debban and his wife Melanie of Anderson, Texas; Dawn Rottink and her husband Dennis of Clarksville, Iowa; Daren Debban and his wife, Kate of Medford, Wisconsin; and Tiffiny Christensen and her husband, Jason of Waterloo, Iowa; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Chris' honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
