Visitation for Christine M. "Chris" Butler will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska.
Following a traditional viewing, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Kearney, Nebraska with Pastor Tom Thompson officiating. Inurnment will be held in the Kearney Cemetery, following the services with military honors provided by the VFW and American Legion Post #52 Honor Guards of Kearney in conjunction with the United States Army Military Honors Team.
Christine Marie "Chris" (Nichols) Butler, 44 years of age, of Loomis, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at her home in Loomis, following a three year battle with colon cancer. Christine was born September 30, 1971 in Omaha, Nebraska. She received her education at Millard South High School in Omaha, graduating with the class of 1990. Chris began her twelve year Army Reserve career in 1989 after Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training to become an Army Medic. Throughout the years, Christine conducted drills with the Omaha and Kearney Units. She attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where she studied Criminal Justice and met her future husband, Brad Butler. Chris and Brad were united in marriage on January 31, 1997 in Kearney and the couple were blessed with two daughters: Katelynn and Megan. The family made their home in Loomis, where Chris was employed as the customer service manager for Alokin Industries based out of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Most important in Chris' life was spending time with her family, she especially loved attending her girls' activities.
Christine was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; and one brother-in-law, David Butler.
She leaves to celebrate her life; her husband, Brad Butler; two daughters: Katie Butler of Kearney and Megan Butler of Loomis; her parents: James and Mary Nichols of Omaha; sisters: Patti Holley and her husband, Rich of Prescott, Arizona and Rebekah Anderson and her husband, Brian of Raleigh, North Carolina; one brother, Jim Nichols and his wife, Julie of Valley Center, California; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Don and Ardith Butler of Kearney; brothers-in-law: Alan Butler and his wife, Jill of Omaha and Jon Butler and his wife, Jacquie of Kearney; sister-in-law, Merry Butler of Twin Falls, Idaho; 12 nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial has been established in Chris' honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
