Funeral Services for Clyde J. Jauken will be conducted from the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Wes Holen, officiating. Interment will be held at the Oxford Cemetery.
Clyde Junior Jauken, 82 years of age, of Oxford, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Clyde was born April 6, 1928 on the family farm, northeast of Oxford in Harlan County, Nebraska, the tenth of fourteen children of William H. and Minnie C. (Winter) Jauken. Clyde was baptized as an infant at the Frank Naylor Evangelical Free Church, where he continued to attend for several years. He received his education from Harlan County District #17 rural school.
Following his education, Clyde engaged in farming and was also employed by the ASCS office in Alma, Nebraska. In 1976, Clyde moved into Oxford and began to operate his own construction company. He specialized in carpentry, plumbing and electrical until his retirement in 1988. After retirement, Clyde continued to reside in Oxford until a month ago. Due to his failing health and a fall, he made his home in assisted living at the Bertrand Nursing Home.
He leaves to mourn his passing his three brothers: Alvin Jauken of Holdrege, Nebraska, Lee Jauken and his wife, Jeanie of Overton, Nebraska, and Neil Jauken of Madison, Alabama; two sisters: Eldora VandenBerg of Ireton, Iowa and Donna Anderson and her husband, Darol of Georgetown, Delaware; three sisters-in-law: Donna Jauken of Holdrege, Anita Jauken of Olympia, Washington and Orpha Jauken of Oxford; two brothers-in-law: Don Frost and his wife, Marilyn of Elwood, Nebraska and Maynard Falk of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Verna Frost, Beulah Falk and Margaret Chattin; five brothers: Henry, John, Bill, Royie and George Jauken.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in his memory and kindly suggested to the Golden Generation Center in Oxford.
