Funeral Services for Cody L. Cummins will be conducted from the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Kirwin Stewart Jr. and Reverend Danny Brown, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Cody Lee Cummins, 28 years of age, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2008 on a farm south of Holdrege in Harlan County, Nebraska. Cody was born August 18, 1979 at Omaha, Nebraska, the youngest of three children of Robert and Sandra (Swanson) Cummins. At the young age of two years, Cody lost his mother in a motor vehicle accident in Omaha. Cody received his education from Waterloo, Nebraska, graduating from Waterloo High School with the class of 1997. He then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
Following his education, Cody continued to reside at Waterloo, where he was employed by his father as a road crew manager for Cummins Tools of Overland Park, Kansas. Later in years he moved to Overland Park, where he was transferred within the company to the purchasing department as a Purchasing Agent.
Cody enjoyed traveling overseas for the business, hunting, playing basketball and working out at the gym. Most recently, Cody devoted his time to volunteer work at Baan Dada Orphanage in Thailand.
He leaves to mourn in his passing his father, Bob Cummins and his wife, Maggie of Overland Park, Kansas; two brothers: Chris Cummins of Denver, Colorado and Josh Cummins of Overland Park; three sisters: Christal Robinson and her husband, Rick of Omaha, Nebraska, Shannon Lyon and her husband, Chris of Overland Park and Bobby Jo Cummins of Overland Park; grandmother, Germaine Cummins of Holdrege; and the Swanson side of the family who he enjoyed spending time with at Holdrege. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: Howard and Floreen Swanson and Wilbur "Bill" Cummins.
Cody will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in his memory and kindly suggested to the Baan Dada Children's Home.
