Connie June Garringer, 61 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney, Nebraska. Connie was born December 29, 1949 at Lexington, the second of three children of Stanley G. and Margery J. (Raetz) Warren. She received her education from Lexington Public Schools.
Following her education, Connie was united in marriage to Jerry L. Garringer on February 14, 1966 at Elm Creek, Nebraska and to this union three children were born: Jeri, Thomas and Todd. After their marriage, Jerry and Connie made their home in Lexington, where Connie was employed as a nurse's aid at the Tri-County Hospital, and sewed for Betsy's Bobbins north of Loomis, Nebraska for a few years. She also worked as a para-educator at the Sandoz Elementary School and prior to retirement she was a receptionist at the Farm Bureau Insurance Agency in Lexington. In 2001, she relocated to Holdrege, where she continued to reside until her passing. It was a true witness to her faith during the past six years as she fought renal failure courageously and continued to be a blessing to her family and friends during this difficult time.
When Connie lived in Lexington, she was active teaching Sunday School and was a youth leader for Awana and served as chairperson for the Christian Women's Club. While in Holdrege, Connie enjoyed her membership at the Trinity Church, where she was active in Bible Studies and the Christian Women's Club. She also enjoyed the support she received from Stephen Ministries. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Thomas.
Connie leaves to mourn her passing her former husband and best friend, Jerry Garringer of Holdrege; one daughter, Jeri White of Grand Island, Nebraska; one son, Todd Garringer and his wife, Becky of Holdrege; six grandchildren: Ashley Venteicher and her husband, Steven, Jessica and Braxton White all of Grand Island and Nathaniel, Preston "Bubba" and Matthew Garringer all of Holdrege; one brother, Thomas Warren and his wife, Mary of North Platte, Nebraska; sister, Bonnie Osenton and her husband, Mike of Kansas City, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
