Crystal Genevieve (Gaffney) Rodenbaugh was born on November 23, 1936, on the family farm along Rope Creek between Alma and Orleans, Nebraska. She was the second of three children born to Orville Augusta Gaffney and Leoma Pauline (Chambers) Gaffney. Crystal departed this life peacefully on December 2, 2025, at the age of 89.

Crystal was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Alma. She attended the Punkin Ridge #48 Country School before completing her education at Long Island High School in Kansas, graduating in 1954.

On September 11, 1954, Crystal was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Hugh "Orin" Rodenbaugh. To this union five children were born two sons and three daughters. Crystal and Orin made their early home in Alma before moving to Lexington, Nebraska. In later years they farmed south of Overton and, following the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary on September 11, 2004, they made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Crystal was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy came from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cherished her time with her card club and found delight in cooking, gardening, sewing, and working puzzles. She was also an enthusiastic supporter of Nebraska Volleyball and many other Nebraska sports teams.

Crystal was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Orin; her parents, Orville and Leoma; and her brothers, Orville and Leland Gaffney.

She is survived by her children: Craig Rodenbaugh and his wife, Helen, of Naples, Florida; Brenda Walton of Columbus, Georgia; Steven Rodenbaugh and his wife, Elaine, of Seward, Nebraska; Marcia Herring and her husband, Michael, of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Michele Fullerton of Lee's Summit, Missouri; as well as 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
