Cynthia "Cindi" Junkin, 63, passed away on June 1, 2016 at Pathways Hospice in Loveland, CO, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Cindi was born on November 22, 1952, in Minden, NE, to Carl and Norma (Warnken) Wittfoth. She graduated from Bertrand High School with the class of 1971 and then pursued higher education at Hastings Technical College and then briefly lived and worked in Lincoln, NE. In 1979, Cindi moved to Fort Collins, CO, where she spent 30 years as a computer processor with Kodak. In 2015, she retired from J.B.S.
Cindi loved spending time with her family and was a proud "auntie" to her four nephews. She also had a passion for travel, going on cruises and trips to the mountains. She enjoyed meeting friends for her monthly Bunko dice game and was a fierce Denver Broncos fan.
In 2007, after 40 years apart, Cindi was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Dan Junkin. The two were married in January of 2009 in Key West, FL. They shared a beautiful life together of love, laughter and little white dogs. Cindi and Dan also shared a great appreciation for the performing arts and for several years opened their home to visiting actors at the Midtown Arts Center.
Cindi is survived by her husband, Dan Junkin of Fort Collins; step-daughter, Christie Leigh Pujado (Matt Rawls) of Key West; her mother, Norma Wittfoth of Holdrege, NE; sisters: Pamela Sweeney Broome (Herman) of Johnson Lake, NE. and Vicki Cissell (Rick) of Loveland; four nephews: Eric and Andrew Sweeney and Derik and Cory Cissell, and their spouses and families; sister-in-law, Daisy Sperling (Larry) of Grand Island, NE; along with a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Wittfoth; in-laws: Eldred and Erie Junkin; and brothers-in-law: Jim Sweeney and Jon Junkin.
There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Cindi's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Cindi's honor and kindly suggested to Pathways Hospice in Loveland.
