Funeral Services for D. LeMoyne "Andy" Anderson will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Axtell, Nebraska with military honors provided by the Minden American Legion Post #94 in conjunction with the United States Army National Guards Military Honors Team.
Dorey LeMoyne "Andy" Anderson, 75 years of age of Denver, Colorado, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011 at the North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, Colorado. He was born October 7, 1936 in Holdrege, the second of four children born to LaVern and Bernice (Peterson) Anderson.
After a 30 year career, he retired from King Soopers, a grocery chain in Colorado, as the Manager of Meat Operations. As a second career, he became a tavern owner.
He spent his childhood in Bertrand, Nebraska. He graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1954. While at Hastings High, he enjoyed playing football and taking home-economics (lots of girls and food).
His hobbies were hunting, fishing, golf, bowling watching the Denver Broncos and Nebraska football.
He was very proud of his Nebraska heritage; family was uppermost in his life. He never knew a stranger. Being a friend meant you were family.
He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Scott Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Jerie of Denver; sons: Michael Anderson and his wife, Anna of Denver and Jamey Smith of Castle Rock, Colorado ; mother, Bernice Anderson of Holdrege; grandchildren: Jackson, Brooklynn and Cole Smith of Castle Rock; sister, Marilyn Smith and her husband, Robert of Milliken, Colorado; two brothers: Conrad Anderson and his wife, Shirley of Longpine, Nebraska and Byron Anderson of Holdrege; and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
