Dale Clinton Guthrie, 91 years of age, of Ragan, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Bryan Medical Center East Campus in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dale was born on March 12, 1935 in Frontier County, Nebraska, the twelfth of fifteen children born to Omer Kem and Maude Mae (Urling) Guthrie. He received his education from District #63 Country School, in Frontier County, near Stockville, Nebraska and then attended Ragan High School, graduating with the class of 1951.
Following his education, Dale engaged in farming as a hired hand for Albert Frissell Farms. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was later honorably discharged.
On June 22, 1958, Dale was united in marriage to Lou Ann Meisenbach at the Ragan United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Ragan for over 67 years and were blessed with three children: Robert, Karen and Rory. Dale was employed at the Western Alfalfa Hay Mill in Odessa, until he began a long career at Becton Dickinson, retiring in 1994. He was also a tv repairman for several years, prior to working at BD. In his retirement, he enjoyed working for the Ragan COOP.
Dale had a small cattle operation for many years. Dale had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in caring for his yard. He found joy in mowing, planting, and tending to his crops, and he loved sharing his harvest with family, friends, and neighbors. But most of all, Dale loved his family. Dale and Lou Ann traveled near and far to attend their grandchildren's activities and rarely missed a sporting event or program! He enjoyed helping his children, and in later years, his grandchildren, with their 4-H livestock and garden projects. Dale liked watching Husker Sports and Royals baseball and enjoyed attending games with his family.
He was a faithful member of the Ragan United Methodist Church where he served as Treasurer, as a youth sponsor, and prided himself in ringing the bell every Sunday morning. He also served on the Ragan Village Board for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his in-laws, Floyd and Gladys Meisenbach; sisters: Alberta Covey and her husband, Albert; Geraldine "Gerry" Richards and her husbands: Millard Covey and Leland Richards; Garnett Covey and her husband, Donald; Alpha Fries and her husband, Wayne; Thelma Soderberg and her husband, Vern; and Myrna Guthrie; brothers: LaVerne Guthrie and his wife, Barbara; Omer Guthrie and his wife, Wanda; Harold Guthrie; John "Jack" Guthrie and his wife, Carol; Wayne Guthrie and his wife, Janice; and Cecil Guthrie; brothers-in-law: Neal Carlson; Clarence "Bud" Rogers; Leroy Maxwell; Lyle Meisenbach; and F.
