Memorial Services for Dale D. Johnson will be conducted from The North Park Assembly of God Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, November 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Alex Brodine, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Dale Dean Johnson, 61 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, November 19, 2006. He was born on October 4, 1945 in Holdrege, Nebraska, the second of three children of Herbert and Dora (Langenberg) Johnson. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Dale received his education, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1963. Following his education, he was employed with Nelson Furniture in Holdrege before being inducted into the U.S. Army in 1965. Dale was stationed in Germany as a radio operator during his service. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Holdrege and was employed by Becton-Dickinson for two years and later drove for Speedway Transportation before working many years at Holdrege Coop.

In October of 1968, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Dunn and to this union one daughter was born, Tracy. The family made their home in Holdrege where Dale enjoyed hunting and bowling. He was a member of the American Legion Post #66 and the F.O.E. #3132 in Holdrege.

On August 27, 1987, he was united in marriage to Gwen L. Hays. The couple enjoyed spending time together and spent many hours involved with the F.O.E. in Holdrege. At the time of his passing, he was employed by the Eagles Club of Holdrege.

He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Dora VanSlyke and her special friend, Ken Wynn of Holdrege; his children: Tracy Kimberly and her husband, Brad of Holdrege, Cheri Watson and her husband, Michael of Overton, Nebraska, Troy Hays and his wife, Helen of Cozad, Nebraska; brothers: Dave L. Johnson of Holdrege and Dennis R. Johnson and his wife, Sandy of Agra, Kansas; seven grandchildren: Brittney Mancil and her husband, Brian, Eric Watson, Carl Hays, Shayne Hays, Nathan Hays, Jacob and Ryan Kimberly and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen in 2003 and his father.

A memorial has been established in his memory.

The Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home of Holdrege is in charge of the arrangements.
