A Memorial Services for Darlene M. (Ebmeier) Hanson will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church in rural Smithfield, Nebraska with Pastor Daniel Landin officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Gosper County, Nebraska.

Darlene Mae Hanson, 92 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, left this earth on Monday, May 17, 2021, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska surrounded by her family. Darlene was born in Bertrand, on May 11, 1929, to Harry Elmer and Clara Anna Augusta (Millahn) Ebmeier, the youngest of two children.  Darlene attended Bertrand Public Schools, graduating from Bertrand High School with the class of 1946. She completed normal teacher training classes and taught at multiple Country Schools.

On June 8, 1947, she was united in marriage to Raymond Paul Hanson at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertrand. This union was blessed with four children: Virginia, Janet, Jamie, and John. The family made their home on a farm north of Bertrand, where Darlene focused on raising the children and the day-to-day farming operations with her husband Raymond. Darlene worked several years as the office manager and secretary of the Bertrand Nursing Home. On March 16, 1999, she was preceded in death by Raymond. After Raymond's passing, Darlene started working for the Connection.

Darlene was a gifted seamstress and loved gardening and to embroider.

She was a longtime member of the Veterans Auxiliary and Hope Lutheran Church, where she was a dedicated Sunday School teacher for several years.

Darlene was preceded in death by: her husband, Raymond; her parents; sister, Ruth (Junkin) Dahlgren; her son-in-law, Steven Myers; and granddaughter, Heather Myers.

Darlene leaves to celebrate her life, her children: Virginia Hess and her husband, David of Lincoln, Nebraska; Janet Myers of Clarks, Nebraska; Jamie Isom and her husband, Stephen of Valentine, Nebraska; and John Hanson and his wife, Kyle of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 11 grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A memorial book signing will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family greeting at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home.

Memorials in Darlene's honor are suggested to the Bertrand Area Community Fund; Hope Lutheran Church; Juvenile Diabetes Foundation; or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
