Memorial Services for Darlene C. Johnson will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Daren Popple officiating. Inurnment will be held following the services at the Orleans Cemetery at Orleans, Nebraska.
Darlene Clarenda Johnson, 94 years of age, of Loveland, Colorado (formerly of Minden,) passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Village in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Darlene was born December 22, 1923, in Franklin County, Nebraska, to Fred and Hazel (Riefesel) Warnken.
On December 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to A. Dale Johnson in St. Louis, Missouri, and to this union two children were born: Connie and Noel. The family made their home in Minden, where Darlene was a devoted homemaker. After Dale's retirement, the couple moved to Loveland. She thoroughly enjoyed living in the Rocky Mountains. On May 1, 2011, after 69 years of marriage, Dale preceded her in death.
Darlene was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Minden, Nebraska for many years. She enjoyed reading, working crossword
puzzles, antiquing, going to garage sales, and playing scrabble and card games with her family. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of her other family members.
Darlene leaves to celebrate her life; her two children: Connie Jones and her husband, Russ of Loveland; and Noel Johnson of Tecumseh, Nebraska; four granddaughters: Lesley, Angie, Tracey and Amy; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Lorraine James, Lenora (Bob) Westerbeck, and Myrna (Jack) Augsburger; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Dale; she is preceded in death by her sister, Irene Hubert and her husband, Lester; brother, Herbert Warnken and his wife, Colleen; and brother-in-law, Frank James.
There will be no visitation, or memorial book signing as the family is honoring Darlene's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Darlene's' honor and will be designated at a later date.
