Funeral Services for Darrell E. Feusner will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Linda Bergeon, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the Nebraska Army National Guard Honors Team.
Darrell Eugene Feusner, 78 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Darrell was born March 24, 1930 at Alma, Nebraska, the second of three children of Floyd and Sylvia (Seybold) Feusner. He received his education at Huntley, Nebraska, graduating from Huntley High School with the class of 1947.
On May 24, 1951 he was united in marriage to Gloria Ann Wagner at her parent's home in Holdrege. To this union three children were born: Monica, Randy and Scott. The family made their home in Holdrege. Darrell then served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army from October 18, 1951 until his honorable discharge on July 4, 1953. Following his service, Darrell returned home to Holdrege and was employed by Gamble-Robinson for a brief time. He then began his life career with the United States Postal Service as a Postal Carrier until his retirement in 1985. Following his retirement, Darrell enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved making seasonal trips to Elk hunt. Darrell was a member of the American Legion Post #66, was a past member of the Elks and he enjoyed the friendship bonds formed in the Holdrege Volunteer Fire and Rescue for 51 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Gloria of Holdrege; one daughter, Monica Latter and her husband, Ron of Wilcox, Nebraska; two sons: Randy Feusner and his wife, Terri of Savannah, Georgia and Scott Feusner of Holdrege; seven grandchildren: Jeff Latter and his wife, Kendra of Gresham, Oregon, Craig Latter and his fiancé, Stacy Wescott of Funk, Nebraska; Rachel Newell and her husband, Brad of Malvern, Iowa, Jolene Ritterbush and her husband, Craig of Holdrege, Jeremy Feusner and his wife, Chelsea of North Platte, Nebraska, Blake Feusner and Carrie Feusner both of Holdrege; three great-grandsons: Aiden and Alec Newell and Carter Feusner; brothers-in-law: M. Blake Wagner and his wife, Frances of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jim Wagner and his wife, Janet of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Betty Feusner of Ogallala, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wesley; one sister, Patricia Baker and her husband, Vern; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Merril and Marvel Wagner.
Darrell will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Friday, February 20, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
