Darrell Lee Wiser, 81 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Darrell was born in Holdrege on January 10, 1944, the second of four children, born to Jack and Violet (Anderson) Wiser. The family moved around quite a bit before settling in Holdrege, where Darrell graduated from High School.

Darrell enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he worked on nuclear power plants and submarines as an electrician. He was proud of his service to the country and liked to talk about it.

Darrell was united in marriage to Carol Polhemus, and to this union, two children were born: Joel and Jesse. The couple moved back and forth between Nebraska and Denver, where Darrell worked as a Master Diesel Mechanic.

Darrell enjoyed guns; he would go out often to shoot them and reload ammo. He could frequently be found at the lake or working on a classic car. Darrell spent many weekends watching NASCAR and Nebraska Football. He had a great sense of humor.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Violet Wiser; two sisters: Karen Joyce Wiser in infancy; and Katherine A. Chavez of Holdrege.

Darrell is survived by his two children: Joel Wiser and his wife, Sabine Gruensfelder of Centennial, Colorado; Jesse (Wiser) Madugula and her husband, Amarendra of Roanoke, Texas; brother: Jimmie Wiser and his wife, Ann of rural Wilcox; three nieces and nephews: Michael Wiser and his wife, Tiffany; Jodi (Wiser) Elgan and her husband, Steve; and Adrianna (Chavez) Fulmer; along with other relatives, and friends.

A memorial has been established in Darrell's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
