Memorial Services for David A. Altwine will be conducted from the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kenton Birtell, officiating. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
David Alan Altwine, 54 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Christian Homes in Holdrege. David was born January 17, 1953 at Norfolk, Nebraska, the fourth of five sons born to Arnold William and Bernita Aloise (Silhacek) Altwine. He received his primary education at Hadar, Nebraska and then graduated from Pierce High School in Pierce, Nebraska with the class of 1971.
On March 25, 1973 he was united in marriage to Joan Harrison and to this union one son, Jason was born. The family made their home in Elm Creek, Nebraska, where David was employed by Redex and later Ag Dryer Services. In 1995, David moved to Norfolk, Nebraska and was employed the last few years by Nucor Steel until his failing health forced him to retire. In 2005, David moved to Holdrege to be near his son, Jason.
Being an outdoorsman he loved to hunt, fish and trap, ride horses, traveling and spending time with his family. He attended the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege.
He leaves to mourn his passing his son, Jason Altwine and his wife, Janelle of rural Holdrege; two grandchildren: Ashley and Shelby Altwine; two step-grandchildren: Kasey and Paige Hendrickson; four brothers: Terry Altwine and his wife, Joyce of Norfolk, Tom Altwine and his wife, DyAnn of Kearney, Nebraska, Bill Altwine and his wife, Terri of Foster, Nebraska, Bob Altwine and his wife, Pat of Pierce, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring David's wishes for cremation.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
