Celebration of life service for David K. Arehart will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating.

Interment will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

David K. Arehart, 74 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society – St. John's in Kearney. David was born June 26, 1950, in Holdrege, the second of four children born to Marvin David and Mary Esther (Kitt) Arehart. At the age of 2, David became developmentally disabled following a life-threatening illness. He received his education at Wilcox Public School in Wilcox, Nebraska as well as the Institute of Logopedics in Wichita, Kansas.

He enjoyed bowling, board games, listening to music, word search books, mowing lawns, and watching westerns. He also participated in the Special Olympics and won medals in various events.

David was a member of the Pleasant View Christian Church, south of Wilcox.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mary Arehart; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Edith (Ferdinand) Kitt; paternal grandparents, Yura and Mary (Habben) Arehart; two uncles: Roland Arehart and his wife, Jacque; and Levi Arehart and his wife, Phyllis; three aunts: Wanda Kitt and Lucille Kitt at a young age; and Una (Kitt) Nelson and her husband, Norman; his brother-in-law, Melvin Falk; and niece, Amy (Putnam) Jessop.

David leaves to celebrate his life; his siblings: Susan Falk of Kearney; Nina Putnam and her husband, Ed of Grand Island, Nebraska; and Brock Arehart and his special friend, Andrew Brackett of Kearney; five nieces and nephews: Lynn Lebsack and her husband, Grant of Kearney; Karla Steele and her husband, Trent of Papillion, Nebraska; Mark Putnam and his wife, Kelly of York, Nebraska; Ryan Putnam and his wife, Jessica of Shelley, Idaho; and Nick Jessop of Grand Island; great-nieces and great-nephews: Elliott and Beatrice Lebsack; Bennett and Kitt Steele; Anna, Dante, and Maya Jessop; Julian Hyde; Domonick and Matthew Putnam; and Jocelyn, Josiah, and Joshua Putnam; along with a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in David's honor and kindly suggested to ARC of Buffalo Co.
