David L. Carlson

Memorial Graveside Services for David L. Carlson will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Daren Popple officiating. The family encourages everyone in attendance to keep health issues in mind, and bring your own chair to the graveside service.

Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services and Gatherings will be followed.  David's family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend David's services, based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community.  The graveside services will be live-streamed via the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home Facebook page. David Lynn Carlson, 64 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 16, 2020, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. David was born on January 7, 1956 in Holdrege, the only son of Earl E. and Elaine (Youngmark) Carlson. He attended Holdrege Public Schools and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1974.

Following his education, David enjoyed being a stone engraver for Palmer Brothers Granite Company for several years.  Later David worked for the City of Holdrege; Graphic Arts Shop, as a screen printer; and most recently, the Holdrege Daily Citizen.

On April 8, 1956, David was baptized at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege.

David enjoyed watching Nebraska football, the Kansas City Royals, hockey, NASCAR and Indy Car racing. He had a great love for music, especially classic rock and roll. His favorite singers were: Karen Carpenter; Barry Manilow; Paul McCartney; and all things by The Beatles.

He was an avid fan of the TV show, General Hospital and taped most of their episodes.  Above all, his favorite things were: Miller Lite; his dogs; and his many lifelong friends. David had a heart of gold and always greeted you with a happy smile.

David was preceded in death by: his parents, grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

David leaves to celebrate his life: his cousins: Brad Youngmark and his wife, Patricia of Wilcox, Nebraska; Laura Youngmark of League City, Texas; Deanna Ostgren of Holdrege; Paulette Shere of Lacey, Washington; Arlen Anderson and his wife, Janet of Independence, Kansas; Ron Lyon and his wife, Nita of Holdrege; and Leon Lyon and his wife, Becky of Alma, Nebraska; as well as extended family and many special friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska. Following the visitation, cremation will take place.

A memorial has been established in David's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
