Funeral Services for David M. Chandler will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Rev. Nora Mendyk and Pastor Tom Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
David Michael Chandler, 32 years of age, of Loomis, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020, due to complications from a liver transplant at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. David gave the ultimate anatomical sacrifice and was able to gift his organs and tissues, to many people. David was born on February 29, 1988, in Holdrege, the youngest of three boys born to Roger and Lana (Swanson) Chandler. He was baptized at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege. David received his education from Loomis Public Schools, and graduated from Loomis High School with the class of 2006.
He pursued higher education from Peru State College and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business. He was currently enrolled and working toward his Master's Degree.
David was employed for a number of years at Holdrege Monument Company and was currently working for the United States Postal Service as PTF Sales and Service Associate. He worked in many different communities in Nebraska, including: Shelton, Wilcox, Hildreth, Elm Creek, Bertrand and Holdrege.
David was an excellent cook. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family; golfing; and loved his dogs: Herbie, Red and Ozzie. David was a Licensed Pyrotechnician; he and his brother, Jon enjoyed setting-up and lighting many large firework displays.
He was preceded in death by: his grandfathers: Rodney Swanson; and Edsel Chandler.
David leaves to celebrate his life; his parents: Roger and Lana Chandler of Loomis; two brothers: Eric Chandler of Loomis; and Jonathon Chandler and his wife, Carissa of Kenesaw, Nebraska; two nieces: Carsyn and Payton Chandler; grandmothers: Agnes Chandler of Smithfield, Nebraska; and RoseAnn Swanson of Holdrege; uncles: Robert Chandler of Smithfield; Brad Swanson and his wife, Jana of Manhattan, Kansas; Rory Swanson and his wife, Mary of Manhattan, Kansas; and Kelly Swanson and his wife, Barb of Alma; aunts: Corinne Reiss of Smithfield; Shirley Terry and her husband, Mark of Denton, Nebraska; and Linda Minarick and her husband, Ted of Morse Bluff, Nebraska; along with many cousins, extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in David's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
