Memorial Services for David A. "Dave" Hamilton will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Holdrege, Nebraska with Brother Daryl Wyatt, officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date
David Allen Hamilton, 58 years of age, of Rocky Point, North Carolina, (formerly of Funk, Nebraska), passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Dave was born July 26, 1960 at Santa Ana, California, the third of six children born to Chester and Joann (Ryan) Hamilton. When Dave was nine years of age, the family relocated to Johnstown, Nebraska. Dave received his education from Ainsworth Public Schools. Dave's work ethic began at a very young age, even holding jobs at the age of 14. Following his education, he was employed by Costello's Sand and Gravel in Ainsworth, as a barge operator.
On December 11, 1988, he was united in marriage to Tameran Lee Amick at the Kingdom Hall in Ainsworth, and to this union they were blessed with one son, Sheldon. The family made their home in Ainsworth for four years, prior to moving to Valentine, Nebraska. Dave was employed at the local lumber yard until he began his employment with Dugan Construction in Valentine as a carpenter.
In 2006, the family moved to Funk, Nebraska, and Dave began a career with the Nebraska Department of Roads for the State of Nebraska at Holdrege. Seven months ago, Dave took early retirement as he and Tamee relocated to Burgaw, North Carolina, and were looking forward to being closer and spending more time with their son and his family. A highlight of Dave's life was the time spent creating special memories with his grandchildren. On December 11, 2018, the couple celebrated their 30 th Wedding Anniversary.
Dave was a "jack of all trades", and enjoyed restoring old cars; he was especially fond of the 1968 Chevy Chevelle he restored for Tamee. He was a Nebraska Huskers football fan. He was always the kind of guy that was always thinking of others before himself, and just loved to help those in need. He also had a special bond with his cat, Tweety.
He put his strong faith in Jehovah, and enjoyed his membership at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Holdrege. He knew his hope for the future was sure.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and a brother in infancy.
He leaves to celebrate his life; his loving wife, Tamee Hamilton, of Rocky Point, North Carolina; his son, Sheldon Hamilton and his wife, Hannah of Burgaw; three grandchildren: Brayden, Rihanna, and Izzy Hamilton; one brother, Chet Hamilton of Kearney, Nebraska; four sisters: Jeanette Harris and her husband, Ezra of Gibbon, Nebraska; Jackie Peregoy and her husband, Tony of Johnstown, Nebraska; Nellie Alfonso and her husband, Joel of Norfolk, Nebraska; and Cindy Pasarin and her husband, Juan of Grand Island, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Claudette Amick of Rocky Point; father-in-law, Larry Amick and his wife, Alois of Hemingford, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Katrina Amick of Valentine; brother-in-law, Kirk Amick and his wife, Tasha of Yucaipa, California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Dave's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Dave's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
