Memorial Services for David A. Repenning will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Republican City, Nebraska with Pastor Darrel Wissmann officiating. Inurnment and laying David to rest, will follow at the Alma Cemetery at Alma, Nebraska with military honors provided by the Faye Cady American Legion Post #118 in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.
Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services will be followed. The Repenning family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend David's services based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community. If you have any symptoms, please remain home. The family would appreciate the use of face coverings at the service.
David Allen "Dave" Repenning, 66 years of age, of Joliet, Montana, passed away on September 4, 2019, at SCL-Health Medical Group in Billings, Montana. Dave was born on March 16, 1953, to Myron and Adaila (Burner) Repenning at Bloomfield, Nebraska. He received his education from Bloomfield Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1972.
On May 17, 1972, Dave entered into the Army Active Duty at Omaha, Nebraska. He served his country during the Vietnam War as a Helicopter Repairman. Dave was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On July 15, 1975, Dave was honorably discharged at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He then served in the Reserve Capacity for many years.
Following his military service, Dave engaged in farming and also worked as a mechanic. He later worked as a Miner at the Stillwater Mine in Nye, Montana. On February 26, 1977, Dave was married to Virginia Weber at Seward, Nebraska. The couple enjoyed weekend camping trips to the mountains and trips to Sturgis. He loved his Harleys, cows, and of course his border collies. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and farming.
Dave was preceded in death by his; grandparents, Walter and Edna Repenning; his parents, Myron and Adaila (Burner) Repenning; father-in-law and mother-in-law: George and June (Swanson) Weber; brother, Frank Repenning; and two aunts: Ellen Warriner; and Ruth Walter
He is survived by: his loving wife of 42 years, Virginia Repenning of Joliet, Montana; step-mother, Roberta Repenning of Bloomfield; his brothers: Tom (Monica) Repenning of Niobrara, Nebraska; and Jack (Sheri) Repenning of Grandview, Texas; his sisters; Vickie Repenning of Norfolk, Nebraska; and Cindy Repenning of Mission Hills, South Dakota; step-brother; John McNeil of Colorado; and step-sisters; Launa (Will) Belluchi of Williamsburg, Virginia; and Laura McNeil and Theresa McNeil, both of Escondido, Colorado; uncle, Daniel Repenning and his wife, Sherril of Bloomfield; sisters-in-law: Theresa Dunse and her husband, Gary of Alma, Nebraska; Georgia Frerichs and her husband, Edwin of Lockford, California; Norma Hays and her husband, Allen of Oxford, Nebraska; Sharon Talbert and her husband, William of Heartwell, Nebraska; Janice Weber of Augusta, Georgia; and Gloria Nelson and her husband, Marvin of Holdrege, Nebraska; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
There will be no Memorial Book Signing or Visitation. The family honored his wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Dave's honor and will be designated at a later date.
