David Frank Reynolds, 76 years of age, of rural Orleans, Nebraska, was called home Friday, March 25, 2016 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska. He was born on February 18, 1940 on the family farm in Harlan County, south of Orleans, the fifth of ten children to Arthur Ely and Sara Isabel (Gibson) Reynolds. He received his education from the Springbrook District #26 in Harlan County and Orleans Public School.
Following his education, David engaged in his lifelong passion of farming. He purchased and farmed the Reynolds Homestead after his mother and brother passed away. David resided on the family farm his entire life, up until he became ill in June, 2012. At the time of David's passing, he was a resident of the Beaver City Manor, where he received loving care.
David's love of life was farming and watching his crops grow. He will be remembered for his willingness to help neighbors and area farmers in their time of need. He also enjoyed attending farm auctions as an "iron buyer" to re-purpose metal. In addition, David enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and loved playing pitch with his friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: one sister in infancy and sisters, Lorene and Arla Jane; one brother, Gayle LeRoy Reynolds; four brothers-in-law: Boyd Neeman, Robert Gillham, Ed Lawrence, and Gary Parker; and a special friend, Dwight Bash.
He is survived by his five sisters: Frona Lorimer of Ellsworth, Kansas, Ruby Hardin and her husband, Dee of Alma, Norene Pepper and her husband, Joe of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, June Lawrence of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Lois Haug and her husband, Terry of Smith Center, Kansas; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends: Jeff Bash and Gary Stoelting both of Orleans.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey and Mach Funeral Home in Alma.
