Memorial services for David L. Tucker will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Murray Jones officiating. Private family inurnment will be held prior to the services at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

David Lowrey Tucker, 83 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. He was born October 21, 1930 in Greensburg, Kansas, the youngest of three sons born to Lester O. and Etha Belle (Ungles) Tucker. He attended school in Greensburg, graduating from Greensburg High School with the class of 1948.

On November 12, 1949, David was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Elliott and to this union three sons were born: David Elliott, Dennis Craig and Larry Stephen.

David was inducted into the United States Army on March 8, 1948, where he served as a radio operator in the Korean Theater receiving honors including a Purple Heart, until he was honorably discharged on March 12, 1952. This experience began his long career in radio broadcasting. From 1955 until 1995 he was the owner/manager of several radio stations broadcasting first from York, Nebraska, Superior, Nebraska, Arizona and then in 1980, the family moved to Holdrege, where Dave became an owner/partner in the KUVR/KKTY radio station. Dave retired in 2003.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Dave was a member of the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #3132 of Holdrege.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dennis in 2001, and two brothers: Douglas in infancy and Darrell Tucker.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 64 years, Shirley of Holdrege; two sons: David "Elliott" Tucker and his wife, Barb of Lincoln, Nebraska and Larry Tucker of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Mary Tucker of San Luis Obispo, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation, the family is honoring David's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in David's honor and will be designated at a later date.
