Dean L Hill

Mass of Christian Burial for Dean L. Hill will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Father Thomas Lux as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege with Military Honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team.

Dean Lester Hill, 71 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his home in Holdrege. Dean was born October 28, 1945 at Broken Bow, Nebraska, the elder of twin boys born to Donald F. and Frances L. (McQwen) Hill. He received his education from Broken Bow Public Schools, and graduated from Broken Bow High School with the class of 1964.

On October 7, 1965, Dean was inducted into the United States Navy Sea Bee's, and served his country during the Vietnam War. On October 7, 1971, he was honorably discharged and returned to Broken Bow.

Dean was united in marriage to Janet Kay Jacquot on July 27, 1968, and to the union two sons were born: Ron and Mike. The couple raised their family in Holdrege. In the 1970's, Dean and two of his friends started Tri City Auto Parts, Inc. Within a few short years, Dean and Janet successfully acquired complete ownership. With hard work and a positive attitude he was able to hire and retain employees that continue to build relationships with customers. Dean's commitment to his family, employees, customers, and the Holdrege area, led him and Janet to celebrate their 38th Anniversary of Tri City Auto Parts, Inc. this last year.

His well-known love of fast cars (Mustang's only), boats, fishing, camping, hunting with friends, traveling, NASCAR, and all things shiny. But his greatest love was his wife, sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Dean enjoyed showing them his critical thinking skills as well as his common sense approach to problem solving. The ability to minimize his own health issues and focus on his family was one of his greatest gifts.

Dean was active with a number of organizations over the years including the Knights of Columbus, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Phelps Memorial Hospital Board, the Nebraska Heartland Cruisers, the VFW, the Mustang Club, and you could find him at any, and all elementary, middle and high school activities, cheering on his favorite little "Hills."

Dean's love for his dog, Holly was only surpassed by his love for his wife of many years, Janet. Many days you would find Holly accompanying Dean driving the country side, enjoying a nap, or walking around North Park.

Dean leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Janet Hill of Holdrege; his two sons: Ron Hill of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mike Hill and his wife, Alicea of Holdrege; three grandchildren: Jordan Hill, Carolyn Hill and Tyler Hill; one brother, Dale Hill and his wife, Dedee of North Platte, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Lois Morrison of Broken Bow, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Connie Carroll and her husband, Roger of Broken Bow, Julie Watson and her husband, Mark of Sacramento, California; brother-in-law, Dan Jacquot and his wife, Sandy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
