Dean J Robinson

Memorial Services for Dean J. Robinson will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church in rural Phelps County, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Pletcher officiating. Private family interment will be held prior to the service at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Military Honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.

Dean Jacob Robinson, 92 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Dean was born on September 18, 1924 in rural Harlan County, Nebraska, the third of four sons born to William Foster and Ada Isadore (Michael) Robinson. He attended rural schools in Harlan County and later graduated from Mascot High School with the class of 1942.

On March 17, 1943, Dean was inducted into the United States Army and served in the Pacific Theater, receiving numerous metals. He was honorably discharged on February 14, 1946.

On December 6, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothea E. "Dot" Robinson and to this union two children were born: Judy and Dennis. The family made their home on a farm two miles south and two miles west of Loomis, Nebraska and in 1952, they moved 8 miles North of Holdrege. Dean enjoyed farming and raising cattle until his retirement.

Dean enjoyed collecting stamps, reading and playing Solitaire on the computer.

Dean was a member of the American Legion and served on the R-6 School Board. He was baptized in the Atlanta Methodist Church and later joined the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church, serving on the deacon board and various office positions.

Besides his parents; Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea on February 7, 2017; three brothers: Fred Robinson, George Robinson and Raymond Robinson; sisters-in-law, Ruth Taylor and husband, William and Lois Robinson; brother-in-law, Hugh Robinson and wife, Doris; and special aunt and uncle, Eunice and Doc Anderson.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his two children: Judy Piasecki and her husband, Roger of Kearney, Nebraska, and Dennis Robinson and his wife, Donna of Holdrege; six grandchildren and their children: Sally Disler and her husband, Darren (Lauren and Drew), Ben Piasecki and his wife, Molly (Genna, Alizah and Nash), Daniel Robinson and his wife, Danielle (Jocelyn, Isabella and Audrey), Isaac Robinson and his wife, LeighAnn (CharlieAnn and Ira), April Blank and her husband, Colby (an anticipated great-grand baby) and Juliann Baldwin and her husband, Andrew (Dottie and Foster); three sisters-in-law: Rose Robinson of Canada, Donna Robinson of Maryland and Doris Robinson of South Carolina; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Dean's honor and kindly suggested to the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church or donor's choice.
