Funeral Services for Della M. Sell will be conducted from Christian Homes Chapel in Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Murray Jones, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Della Mae Sell, 79 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Della was born June 21, 1928 in Phillips County, Kansas, the third of four children of Roy and Nina (Norton) Romjue. Della received her primary education at the Spring Brook District School and then attended Long Island, Kansas High School.
On June 22, 1946 she was united in marriage to her childhood friend, William E. "Bill" Sell. The couple made their home on a farm in Harlan County, Nebraska, just north of Long Island. It was on this farm, where Della made her life as a homemaker and mother of their five children. In January of 1983, Della and Bill moved to Holdrege, where Della enjoyed caring for her daughter, Shirley and mother, Nina. Della also loved caring for her grandchildren and several children close to the family.
In her spare time, Della enjoyed refinishing woodwork, loved tending to her garden and flowerbeds, enjoyed baking and tending to the household chores. She also enjoyed reading the bible and attending church at Trinity Evangelical Free Church.
Della was a woman of few words, strong faith, and a continuing passion and love for her family and friends.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Bill of Holdrege; two sons: Kenneth Sell and his wife, Kathy of Kearney, Nebraska and Duane Sell and his wife, Janet of Long Island, Kansas; two daughters: Shirley Sell of Holdrege and Sharon Powers and her husband, Chuck of Arapahoe, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Romjue and his wife, Bernita of Republican City, Nebraska; two sisters: Norma Lee Hanes of Republican City and Alta Mulder and her husband, Kenneth of Phillipsburg, Kansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Oliver Ernest Sell.
Mrs. Sell will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Friday, September 7, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her memory and suggested to the Trinity Evangelical Free Church or the Christian Homes.
