A Memorial Graveside Service and Inurnment for Denise K. Heathers will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bainbridge Cemetery in rural Huntley, Nebraska, with Chaplain Ted Decker officiating.

Denise Kay Heathers, 64 years of age, of Huntley, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society – Arapahoe, following a courageous battle with cancer. Denise was born in Alma, Nebraska on April 27, 1957, the youngest of three children born to Marshall and Naomi (Schroder) Heathers. She received her education and graduated from Ravenna Public School, in Ravenna, Nebraska with the class of 1975.

Denise was employed for a short time at the Huntley Elementary School as a custodian and Hogeland's Market in Alma, until she began her long career in housekeeping at Phelps Memorial Health Center. She retired in the summer of 2020, when her health no longer allowed her to work.

She enjoyed reading and coloring and had a soft spot in her heart for her cats. Denise loved helping others and had a resilient work ethic. She loved the simple life in a small town. Most importantly, Denise had a strong faith and relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Denise was preceded in death by: her parents; her brother, Larry Heathers; and infant niece, Miranda Sue Heathers.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her sister, Dot Goodwin and her husband, Albert of North Platte, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Jill Heathers of Ravenna; many nieces and nephews; close friends, Ted and Marlene Decker of Lincoln, Nebraska; Sheila Smith; Cindy Jackson; Lindsay, from hospice; Theresa Dunse; Teresa Myers; Pam Wilson; along with the many other friends that came to help and sit by Denise's side.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring her wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Denise's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
