Dennis N. Beckman

A funeral service for Dennis N. Beckman will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Rev. Jan Gluth King officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

Dennis N. Beckman, 90 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away, on January 4, 2025, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Dennis was born in Holdrege on March 3, 1934, the third son of four, born to Henry and Ellen (Lindquist) Beckman. He received his education from District #72 school and later attended and graduated from Loomis High School, with the class of 1951.

On June 8, 1952, Dennis was united in marriage to Joan Skoog in Holdrege, and to this union, three children were born: Debra, David, and Steve. The couple made their home in Holdrege where Dennis was a farmer and worked at Becton Dickinson for 28 years.

Dennis enjoyed restoring antiques and hunting. His pride and joy was his lawn; he was usually out mowing or tending to the flowers. Dennis was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all he loved spending time with his family and attending their activities and events.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Lions Club and the Elks Club.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Dennis Beckman in 1962; three brothers: Darrell Beckman and his wife, Phyllis; Donald Beckman and his wife, Joan; and Dean Beckman and his wife, Joy; and his parents-in-law, Milford and Kathleen Skoog.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Joan Beckman of Holdrege; two children: Debra Fountaine of Hastings, Nebraska; Steve Beckman of Holdrege; four grandchildren: Josh Fountaine of Omaha, Nebraska; Joe Beckman and his wife, Amanda of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Megan Beckman of Austin, Texas; Drew Beckman and his wife, Kim of Loomis, Nebraska; seven great-grandchildren: Michala Dunmire; Alex, Ava, and Ellie Beckman; Konner, Baron, and Baylen Beckman; brothers-in-law:  Dan Skoog of Hastings; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Dennis' honor, and kindly suggested to the Nebraska Prairie Museum.
