Dennis James Jordan, 76 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society - Millard in Omaha, Nebraska. Dennis was born October 19, 1942, in Holdrege, the eldest of three children born to Albert J. and Kathryn M. (Kealey) Jordan. He received his education from Holdrege Public Schools, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1960.
Following his education, Dennis was inducted into the United States Navy on June 22, 1960 until August 28, 1963, being stationed in Alaska. A few years later, Dennis re-enlisted on February 16, 1966 and was honorably discharged on December 22, 1967. He was assigned to the USS Bon Homme Richard and received the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
After Dennis returned from the Navy, he was united in marriage to Vicki Google and to this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Angela. The marriage later ended in divorce.
On December 28, 1974, he was united in marriage to Janice Ann Vogel and together they raised two beautiful daughters: Melanie and Allison. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Dennis was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad as a brakeman. He later worked for the Co-op and then for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads for 25 years.
Dennis was raised in a family that loved to fish and hunt. He was an avid fisherman and hunter for many years. He loved to read, travel, eat out, watch movies, and loved all sports. Dennis spent many evenings at the Eagles Club and enjoyed betting on NASCAR. He created numerous lasting friendships through the Eagles and cherished all the memories made there with his buddies. Most of all, Dennis treasured time spent with his grandchildren and the countless hours playing games with his family.
Dennis will always be remembered for his sense of humor. He loved pulling pranks and getting laughs. He was a "straightforward" type of guy and you always knew where you stood with him.
