Diane K. Sell

A funeral service for Diane K. Sell will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart Jr. officiating. Following the traditional funeral service, cremation will take place. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

Diane Kay Sell, 83 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on May 17, 2026, at WEL-Life in Kearney, Nebraska. Diane was born in Holdrege on November 16, 1942, the sixth of seven children, born to Elmer and Faye (Schroder) Berry. All seven kids' names start with the letter "D". She started receiving her education from Huntley Public School and later attended and graduated from Holdrege High School, with the class of 1960.

On September 4, 1960, Diane was united in marriage to James Sell of Orleans, Nebraska, in Holdrege, and to this union two sons were born: Brad and Tim. Diane worked for 15 years as a clerk for the city of Holdrege and 17 years as a bookkeeper for Lien Lumber. She retired at the age of 52. Diane and Jim have owned and managed rental homes since 1979.

Diane enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling. The family went camping a lot, and one year they camped every weekend except one, Christmas weekend. They went on four cruises and were in San Francisco during the big earthquake of 1989. With her sister, Doris Ann, they made many quilts out of her mother's clothes for several members of their family. She was a Cub Scout leader for her boys when they were in Scouts.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Dennis Berry; Dean Berry and his wife, Kay; Don Berry and his wife, LuEtta; and Delmer Berry and his wife, Janet; and one sister, Detta Duval.

Diane is survived by her husband, James Sell of Kearney; two sons: Tim Sell and his wife, Reneè; and Brad Sell both of Holdrege; four grandchildren: Nickolas Sell and his wife, Nancy; Heather Bradley and her husband, Rick; Olivia Sell and her fiancé, Jesse Jackson; Katrina Hahn and her husband, Austin; two step-grandsons: Raymond Solano and his wife, Airrica; and Robert Solano; four great-grandchildren: Abby and Ellie Sell; Adalynn Bantam; and Drayce Jackson; three step great-granddaughters: Alexis, Aubree, and Lilly Solano; one sister, Doris Ann Schriner of Holdrege; brother-in-law: Larry Duval of Holdrege, one sister-in-law, Judy Berry of Illinois; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

Memorials in Diane's honor are suggested to the family for a later designation.
