DiAnn was born on March 26, 1944 at Broken Bow, Nebraska, the only child of Richard L. and Lila Ann (Simmons) Simonson. In 1995, DiAnn began providing on-call phone services for the Nelson-Harris Funeral Home. She continued her employment with the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home until the time of her death.

DiAnn enjoyed reading and needlework. She was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church in Kearney and enjoyed the friendship bonds formed in the Pearls of Industry Investment Club in Holdrege.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
