Funeral Services for Dickey L. Cook will be conducted from the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Friday, September 22, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Dave Hunt, officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery at Oxford, Nebraska.
Dickey Lee Cook, 81 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at his residence in Oxford. Dickey was born April 20, 1925 at St. Francis, Kansas, the son of Ross Theron and Carroll Georgia (Bear) Cook. The family resided in Kansas before moving to Oxford, where Dickey's parents engaged in farming. Later the family relocated to McCook, Nebraska. Dickey entered the Mid Nebraska Individual Services family on January 3, 1972, where he resided at Oxford in several group homes. In 1992, Dickey began to live independently in his own apartment, where he resided until his passing.
He enjoyed working at Mid Nebraska, where he did wood working and piece assembly. Dickey loved to watch Lawrence Welk on TV, always enjoyed a new piece of clothing and his favorite phase was "Go Big Red."
He leaves to mourn his passing his extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ross in 1969 and mother, Carroll in 1987.
Dickey will lie in state at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford on Thursday, September 21, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in his memory to the Mid Nebraska Individual Services Foundation.
