Private Graveside Services for Dollie E. Kohut were held at Moses Hill Cemetery on Thursday, August 4, 2011.

Dollie Evelyn Kohut, 90 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege, Nebraska), passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Bertrand Nursing Home. Dollie was born on a farm near Loomis, Nebraska on February 25, 1921 to George W. Nelson, Sr. and Margaret (Slator) Nelson. She attended Rural School District #29 through 8th grade and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1936. She then attended Kearney State Teacher's College, graduating in 1941. She then taught school for three years.

On July 26, 1944, Dollie was united in marriage to Eugene Kohut of Simpson, Pennsylvania. After her husband was discharged from the Army Air Force in 1946, they moved to San Francisco, where he worked for the railroad. Her husband retired in 1966. In 1968, they moved to Sonoma, California, where they lived until the time of his death in 1976. Mrs. Kohut then returned to Holdrege. She resided in Holdrege for two years until returning to California to live in Santa Rosa. In 1990, she returned to Holdrege.

Besides her husband, Eugene, Dollie was preceded in death by two brothers: Bernard Nelson (lost in World War II), George Nelson, Jr.; sister, Marjorie Nelson (in infancy); four half-brothers: Norbert Noonan, Reuben, Ray and Roy Nelson; and a half-sister, Muriel Dillon.

Dollie is survived by her brother, Byron Nelson of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Nelson of Holdrege; along with many nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
