Funeral Services for Dolores Williams will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastors Murray Jones, Paul Bauman and Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating. Interment will be held in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, following the services.

Dolores Williams, 96 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege. Dolores was born September 15, 1918 at Kenesaw, Nebraska, the youngest of two children born to Pastor Herman and Cornelia (Miessler) Ramelow. Dolores was baptized as an infant and confirmed at the age of 13 in Kenesaw. She received her education from Kenesaw Public Schools, graduating from Kenesaw High School with the class of 1938. She then pursued her teaching credentials at the McCook Junior College in McCook, Nebraska. In the years to come, Dolores continued her education at UNL, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1965. Teaching was Dolores' passion, she taught in rural schools in Hitchcock County, then in Stratton, Nebraska, in a private school in Washington D.C. while Carson was in the military, in rural schools in Furnas County, Oxford and Stamford, Nebraska, and then at Beaver City, Nebraska throughout her 40 year teaching career.

On May 28, 1944, Dolores was united in marriage to Carson C. Williams on Treasure Island, in San Francisco, California. To this union one son, Mike was born. The family made their home in Austin, Texas for a short time after the war, until settling to the family farm in Furnas County, southwest of Stamford. Following retirement the couple moved to Holdrege.

Dolores and Carson enjoyed attending the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege and she was also a lifelong member of the NSEA and NEA. Dolores loved to knit, tat and crochet; was an excellent cook and enjoyed reading as well.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Ruth Eschenbrener and her husband, Allen.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her husband of 70 years, Carson Williams of Holdrege; one son, Mike Williams and his wife, Becky of Holdrege; two grandchildren: John Williams and his wife, Michelle of Holdrege and Jodi Rust and her husband, Jeff of Lincoln, Nebraska; four great-grandchildren: Bailey and Brennan Williams and Emma and Claire Rust; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Dolores' honor and will be designated at a later date.
