Don D Noren

Funeral Services for Donald D. Noren will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Jason Bonnicksen officiating.  Interment will follow at the Alma Cemetery, Alma, Nebraska.  Per family request, face coverings will be required to attend.

Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services and Gatherings will be followed.  The Noren family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend his visitation and funeral service, based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community. Donald Dean Noren, 82 years of age, of Alma, died on Monday, February 22, 2021, at his home in Alma.  Don was born on January 23, 1939, in the Oxford Hospital at Oxford, Nebraska, the second of four children, born to Carl E. and Mildred M. (LeGrande) Noren.  Don graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1957, and was a great basketball player, helping win the 1957 State Basketball Championship.

On April 17, 1960, Don was united in marriage to Ronda Jane Johnson at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, Nebraska.  The couple made their home in Alma, where Don began working summers for the U.S. Corps of Engineers and later worked full time with the Corps.  Don worked for the Corps for over 35 years.

Don was a "Jack-of-all-trades"; he could work on and fix almost anything, and he was proud to have built his own home.  In his free time, Don enjoyed laying carpet and woodworking, including making items for his daughters and later his grandchildren.  Don also loved to go boating, pulling his daughters on ski's and the inner tube.

To say Don enjoyed cars, was an understatement!  His love of cars started at 14 years of age, when he purchased his first car.  He loved to buy, sell, trade, and fix cars; over 113 in his lifetime.

Don was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving on the church council; and also served on the Alma Fire Department.  His greatest joy, was being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he rarely missed a sporting event.  Don and Ronda enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona, for the last 12 years, making many friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Keith Noren; and a niece, Brenda Waggoner.

Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ronda Jane Noren of Alma; two daughters:  Kim Wieseler and her husband, Jon of North Platte, Nebraska; and Pam Sell and her husband, Randy of Lincoln, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Nathan Wieseler and his wife, Jessica; Danielle Aman and her husband, Colton; Brianna Moline and her husband, Jordan; Nikki Davison and her husband, Seth; Kaitlin Jacobsen; Kendra Smith and her husband, Mark; and Kelsey Jara and her husband, Tom; nine great-grandchildren, plus one on the way; one brother, Norman Noren and his wife, Darlene of Alma; one sister:  Barbara Tegtman and her husband, Mardy of Utah; along with other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, with the family present.

A memorial has been established in Don's honor and kindly suggested to the Harlan County Health System in Alma.
