Donald R. Hilderbrand

A Memorial Service and Inurnment for Donald R. Hilderbrand will be held at a later time.

Donald Roy Hilderbrand, 92 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on March 25, 1933, in Hershey, Nebraska, the third of four children born to Roy and Lola (Potter) Hilderbrand.  He graduated from Maxwell High School, Maxwell, Nebraska.

On February 24, 1952, Don was united in marriage to Joyce D. Smith of at the Baptist Church in Maxwell.  This union was blessed with seven children:  Don Duane, Terry, Steven, Connie, Douglas, Kandi Kay, and Kristi Ann.  The family made their home in North Platte, where Don worked for Union Pacific Railroad for over 30 years.

Don enjoyed golfing with his wife, and kids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Duane Hilderbrand; two daughters:  Kandi Kay; and Kristi Ann; and his two sisters:  Berdine and Margaret.

Don is survived by his wife, of 73 years, Joyce Hilderbrand of Holdrege; children: Terry Hilderbrand and his wife, Lana of Lodgepole, Nebraska; Steve Hilderbrand and wife, Zelda of Fairbury, Nebraska; Connie DeCent of Wallace, Nebraska; and Douglas Hilderbrand and his wife, Amy of Pickrell, Nebraska; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Hilderbrand of Arizona; along with extended family.

There will not be a visitation, viewing or memorial book signing the evening prior.
