A Memorial Service for Donna Mae Blees will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Tom Walker officiating.
A private inurnment will be held prior to the memorial service at the Deaver Cemetery near Stamford, Nebraska.
Donna Mae Blees, 92 years of age, of Alma, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska. Donna was born on May 26, 1928, in Furnas County, Nebraska, six miles southwest of Stamford, the eldest of two daughters, born to Walter and Opal (Covington) Gerd. She received her primary education from District #8 Country School in Furnas County and then attended and graduated from Stamford Public Schools with the class of 1945.
On April 16, 1949, Donna was united in marriage to Robert L. Blees at the Furnas County Court House in Beaver City, Nebraska. The couple made their home on a farm North of Stamford and were blessed with two children: Rex and Susan. Donna enjoyed tending to her children and also helping with the day to day farm operation. In 2008, Donna and Bob moved to Alma from the farm.
She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Stamford, the Lakeside Fellowship in Alma, and was currently attending the Alma Berean Church. Donna was also a member of the FCWM – Women's Group, and a long-time member of the Triple P Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 2011; son-in-law, Tom Grisinger in 2015; and sister, Luella Harrold and her husband, Donald.
Donna leaves to celebrate her life; her son, Rex Blees of Alma, Nebraska; and her daughter, Susan Grisinger of Noblesville, Indiana; two granddaughters: Sarah McComb and her husband, Chip of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Katie Grisinger of Fishers, Indiana; four great-grandchildren: Ethan, Lucy, Kira, and Thomas; along with other relatives, and many friends.
There will be no memorial book signing or visitation. The family has chosen cremation.
A memorial has been established in Donna's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
