A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Donna Jean Johnson will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Darren Theesen officiating. A private family inurnment will be held prior to the services, at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Donna Jean (Kreutzer) Johnson, 86 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Donna Jean was born January 16, 1938 in Elm Creek, Nebraska, the eldest of three children born to Emil and Lila (Richards) Kreutzer. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Holdrege.  She received her education from Holdrege High School, graduating with the class of 1955.
On May 20, 1956, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Waynard Bryce Johnson at the First Baptist Church and to this union, they were blessed with three children: Clettis Eugene, Stanley Michael and Christine Annette. The family made their home on a farm, 4 ½ miles south of Holdrege, where the family engaged in farming.  Donna Jean was a busy farm wife, keeping active with many 4-H projects with the kids.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holdrege, attending Bible studies, serving on the building committee, and attending women's fellowship group.  Donna Jean volunteered at Phelps Memorial Health Center for over 20 years. She also was passionate with Bluebirds Across Nebraska, to help increase the cavity nesting bird populations.
Donna Jean enjoyed watching birds, and tending to her birdhouses.  Most of all, she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and her great-granddaughters, who brought her great joy.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Waynard; two sons: Stanley "Mike" Johnson; and Clettis Johnson; daughter-in-law, Kay Johnson; two sisters-in-law: Melissa Kreutzer; and Janet King and her husband, Craig; and nieces:  Sandra and McKayla Kreutzer.
Donna Jean leaves to celebrate her life; her daughter, Christine Keas of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughter-in-law, Lisa Johnson of Holdrege; four grandchildren: Vanessa, Samantha and Richard Johnson, all of Holdrege; and Josiah Keas and his wife, Jenny of Fort Worth; three great-granddaughters: Katrina Johnson; Kaydence Johnson; and Summer Keas; two brothers: Marlo Kreutzer and his wife, Sharon of Funk, Nebraska; and Terry Kreutzer and wife, Cindee of Keystone, Nebraska; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial book signing will be held on     Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Donna Jean's honor and kindly suggested to Bluebirds Across Nebraska.
