Memorial Services for Dorene K. Brown will be conducted from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, Nebraska on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Thalia Woodworth officiating. Private family inurnment will be in the Carter Cemetery in rural Harlan County prior to the services.

Dorene Kay Brown, 65 years of age of Beaver City (formerly of rural Orleans, Nebraska) passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Beaver City Manor. She was born August 21, 1946 at North Platte, Nebraska, the second of three children born to Lyle and Gladys (Kjar) White. She attended school in Sutherland, graduating with the Sutherland High School class of 1964. She then attended St. Francis School of Nursing in Grand Island, Nebraska, where she received her Registered Nursing degree in 1967.

Dorene was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Oxford Hospital, Arapahoe Good Samaritan Center, the Colonial Villa Good Samaritan Center in Alma, and was the Director of Nursing at Beaver City Manor. When her health declined, she retired from nursing in 2005.

On April 12, 1968 Dorene was united in marriage to Dean Allen Brown in Oxford and to this union two children were born: Douglas and Diane. The family made their home northwest of Orleans. Dorene was preceded in death by her husband, Dean on October 10, 2003.

Dorene enjoyed crocheting, collecting angels and loved to read. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford.

Besides her parents and husband, Dean, she was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Bud Best; father-in-law, Junior Brown; mother-in-law, Marjorie Dyas and her husband, Claire "Dick" Dyas.

She is survived by her son, Doug Brown and his wife, Carol of Arapahoe, Nebraska; one daughter, Diane Linden and her husband, Shawn of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren: Lorissa Strayer, Amanda Williamson, Connor Brown, Christopher Brown, Spencer Brown, Caleb Linden and Carter Brown; two great-granddaughters: Kymber and Romalie; brother, Marlin White and his wife, Lois of Sutherland; one sister, Larea Morrell and her husband, Rich of North Platte; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Best of Oxford; brothers-in-law: Gary Brown of Oxford, Leroy Brown and his wife, Lynette of Oxford and Kent Brown and his wife, Linda of Axtell, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring her wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
