Doris L. Green

Celebration of Life Services for Doris L. Green will be held at Morts Lodge in Oxford, Nebraska on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Bonnie Brock officiating. Private Family Inurnment Services will be held in Colorado at a later date.

Doris Louise Green, 89 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, (formerly of Oxford, Nebraska) passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. She was born April 26, 1925 at Eddyville, Nebraska to Arthur and Frances (Sullivan) Hollibaugh.

She married Fred Green on January 15, 1945 and to this union four children were born: Richard Lee, Larry Gene, Anna Marie and Chloe May.

Doris and Fred lived in Overton, Nebraska until 1950. Doris and Fred left Overton and traveled with Forsythe and Dowis Carnival until 1963. Doris and Fred then purchased their own carnival, Green's Amusements until 1967. They then traveled with Carden Johnson Circus until they retired and moved back to Nebraska in 1981.

Doris was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Oxford and the Elks Auxiliary in Arizona. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing.

Every year from 1950 to 2005 Doris made and decorated wreaths for the Christmas Tree Lot they had on the corner of Colfax and Monaco in Denver, Colorado. Her sons have operated the tree lot since she went to reside at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; daughter, Chloe Wyatt; granddaughter, Richale Green; two sisters: Marge Purintun and Dorothy Piersol, two brothers: Dean Hollibaugh and Dale Hollibaugh; and a niece, Judy Fester.

She is survived by her children: Richard Green (Barb Burch) of Lochbuie, Colorado, Larry Green, (Phyllis Cooke) of Aztec, New Mexico, Anna Marie Seekins (James) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; son-in-law, Richard Wyatt of Aztec; three granddaughters: Heidi Seekins Uptegrove, Amy Seekins Blunn, and Heather Green; five grandsons: Richard Wyatt, Shane Wyatt, Richard Green Jr., Fred Green, Dakota Green; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation as the family has chosen cremation.

A memorial has been established in Doris's honor and will be designated at a later date.
