Dorothy May Hover, 92 years of age, of Lincoln, Nebraska (formerly Loomis, Nebraska), passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Tabitha Hospice of Lincoln. Dorothy was born January 29, 1922, at Loomis, the seventh of eight children born to Carl A. and Anna (Johnson) Carlson. She received her primary education and graduated from Loomis Public Schools with the class of 1939. She and her twin sister, Doris, worked in Holdrege and then in Kearney, Nebraska. In 1943, Dorothy, Doris and their sister, Marjory, moved to Chicago. In 1945, Dorothy returned to Kearney alone where she lived until 1949. She and a girlfriend then moved to San Diego, California where she worked at Ryan Aeronautical Company as a reservationist where she made all travel arrangements for a great number of gentlemen who traveled nationally and internationally. Dorothy was employed for 21 years until her retirement in 1970.

In 1954, Dorothy was united in marriage to Loren Hover in San Diego. Loren was a teacher in the San Diego city school system. Upon both of their retirements, they enjoyed traveling and living in the beautiful city of San Diego. Dorothy was preceded in death by Loren in 1998 due to heart disease.

Dorothy continued to make her home in San Diego until 2007, when she moved to Holdrege for two years. She renewed old friendships and made many new ones. She returned to San Diego until 2012, when she moved to Lincoln, where she resided until her passing.

Besides her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by siblings: Melva Martin and her husband, Cliff, Lucille Dahlstedt and her husband, Carl, Raymond Carlson and his wife, Ruth, twin sister, Doris Carlson and her husband, Robert; and brother-in-law, Douglas Ruediger.

She is survived by her sister, Marjory Ruediger of Des Plaines, Illinois; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
