Memorial Services for Dorothea E. "Dot" Robinson will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church in rural Phelps County, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Pletcher officiating. Private family interment will be held prior to the service at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska.
Dorothea Elva Robinson, 90 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege, Nebraska. Dorothea was born on March 22, 1926 on a farm south of Holdrege, the youngest of four children born to Harold and Ruth (Jones) Robinson. Dorothea was confirmed in May of 1940 at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church by the Rev. H. G. Rodine. She attended Roosevelt Grade School and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1944.
On December 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to Dean Jacob Robinson and to this union two children were born: Judy and Dennis. The family made their home on a farm two miles south and two miles west of Loomis, Nebraska and in 1952, they moved 8 miles North of Holdrege.
Dorothea was employed in the office of the Clerk of District Court in Phelps County, and later worked for Wilson & Person Attorney's Office in Holdrege.
Dorothea joined the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church where she has served faithfully, and attended regularly. She was active in FCWM and White Cross, throughout the years at the church. She was also a member of the Holdrege Garden Club and enjoyed many friendships formed throughout the 60 plus years in the Progressive Extension Club.
Dorothea loved the farm and helping whenever possible. She enjoyed ceramics, tending to her flowers and working outdoors in the beauty the Lord provided. Above all, Dot loved her family, and enjoyed entertaining and serving family birthday and holiday dinners. The Lord was precious to her, and praying for her family and friends was a daily routine. All of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were precious to her; she enjoyed attending as many of their activities as she could and she also loved having them in her home whenever possible.
Besides her parents; Dorothea was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Taylor and her husband, William, and Lois Robinson; and one brother: Hugh Robinson and his wife, Doris.
She leaves to celebrate her life; her husband of 69 years: Dean Robinson of Holdrege; her two children: Judy Piasecki and her husband, Roger of Kearney, Nebraska, and Dennis Robinson and his wife, Donna of Holdrege; six grandchildren and their children: Sally Disler and her husband, Darren (Lauren and Drew), Ben Piasecki and his wife, Molly (Genna, Alizah and Nash), Daniel Robinson and his wife, Danielle (Jocelyn, Isabella and Audrey), Isaac Robinson and his wife, LeighAnn (CharlieAnn and Ira), April Blank and her husband, Colby and Juliann Baldwin and her husband, Andrew (Dottie and Foster); one niece: Teri Sue Salaski and her husband, Bob and one great-niece, Starr Salaski all of Hawleyville, Connecticut; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
