Funeral Services for Dorothy M. "Dot" Broadfoot will be conducted from the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Dave Hunt, officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery.

Dot Broadfoot, 81 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Oxford) passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008 at Christian Homes in Holdrege. Dot was born December 24, 1926 at Halsey, Nebraska, the daughter of Harvey and Marjorie (Little) Bailey. She received her education at Halsey, Nebraska, graduating from Halsey High School.

Following her education, Dot was united in marriage to Robert "Keith" Broadfoot on July 4, 1944 and to this union four children were born: Jerry, Nina, Butch and Larry. The family made their home in the Halsey area and also resided in Colorado and Kearney, Nebraska for a short period of time. With Keith's employment in 1949 with the C B & Q Railroad the family relocated several times until settling to Oxford in 1972. Dot was employed by Dean Birt at the Oxford Café for several years, also worked at the Preston Drug Store and enjoyed volunteering her time at the Thrift Store. On October 11, 1982 she was preceded in death by her husband, Keith. In September of 2005 she made her home at Christian Homes in Holdrege.

Dot's life was centered on her family, providing family gatherings and cooking for holidays and special occasions was close to her heart. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oxford, enjoyed her membership at the Cardinal Country Club in Oxford and many friendship bonds were formed through the years in the "Dorothy Club" in Oxford. She enjoyed dancing, golfing, bowling, traveling, was a sports enthusiast and a spirited Husker Football fan.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Nina Bratcher and her husband, Darroll Crabb of Johnstown, Colorado; three sons: Larry Broadfoot and his wife, Debra of Kearney, Nebraska, Jerry Broadfoot and his special friend, Dorothy Bottrell of Beaver City, Nebraska and Butch Broadfoot and his wife, Janet of Gering, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Keith Broadfoot and his wife, Brenda, Scott Bratcher and his wife, Kellie, Shelly Roesch and her husband, Kraig, Jared Broadfoot, Jason Broadfoot and Kyle Broadfoot; nine great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Thelma Bailey of Brisbane, Australia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, Keith she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Ben and Sam Bailey and three sisters: Katie Mizner, Betty Holliday and Pat Wilson.

Dot will lie in state at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory and kindly suggested to the Cardinal Country Club or the Thrift Store both of Oxford.
