Dorothy Ann Rosier, 94 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Dorothy was born November 24, 1920 on the family farm, northwest of Loomis in Phelps County, the only child born to Charles Gust and Esther Sevena (Mattson) Sunblade. Dorothy was baptized as an infant in her parent's home by the Moses Hill Church pastor. She received her education in Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1938. Following her education, Dorothy assisted several families with housework, until being employed by J.C. Penny and later at Rexall Drug Store, where she was a clerk and worked behind the soda counter.

On June 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Mervin C. Rosier and to this union three children were born: Beverly, Joyce and Dean. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Dorothy focused on raising her children and helping Mervin with the farm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin in 1983.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, gardening and embroidering. She was confirmed at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church as a teenager. After marriage she joined the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, where she was a member for over 60 years, and was active with the Mary and Lydia Groups of the United Methodist Women. She also enjoyed volunteering at Holdrege Memorial Homes and Christian Homes. As her vision declined, Dorothy also enjoyed the technology of talking books and was involved in a low vision support group for many years. Most of all she loved the time spent with her family and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Mervin, Dorothy was preceded in death by one grandson, Darcy Russell; and son-in-law, Charles B. Hansen.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her three children: Beverly Hansen of Grand Island, Nebraska, Joyce Russell and her husband, Eugene of Holdrege, and Dean Rosier and his wife, Cathy of Virginia, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Lyle Hansen and his wife, Kelly of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jeremy Russell and his wife, Jessica of Holdrege, Anthony Russell and his wife, Amy of Stamford, Nebraska, Kristy Roush and her husband, Daniel of Moab, Utah, Kelly Rosier of Plymouth, Minnesota, Laura Lehman and her husband, Matt of Hibbing, Minnesota, and Eric Rosier of Mandan, North Dakota; eleven great-grandchildren: Makenna, Sheree, Alixandria and Kamryn Russell, Taylor, Breanna, Samuel and Kaden Russell, Mya Rosier, and Nolan and Jordan Lehman; special friends and neighbors, Eric and Sharon Fuentes of Holdrege; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
