Doug E. Mueller

A celebration of life memorial book signing will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Douglas Eugene Mueller, 75 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away, on November 21, 2024 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Doug was born in Harvey, North Dakota on October 21, 1949, the oldest of two children, born to Ralph and Mary Lou (Harr) Mueller. He received his education from Holdrege Public School and later attended and graduated from Holdrege High School, with the class of 1968.

On June 20, 1969, Doug was united in marriage to Sandy Jensen at Sandy's parents house in Holdrege, and to this union six children were born: Chris, Leigh, Becky, Kelly, Brad, and Bryan. The couple made their home in Holdrege. Doug was a cook at the Town House Café in Holdrege where Sandy was a waitress. In 1969 Doug started working at Becton Dickenson in Holdrege, in the utilities department and worked his way up to become a supervisor.

Doug loved music and was part of a band in high school called High Tide. He enjoyed watching British television, cooking, and art. Doug had a great sense of humor and some of the best comebacks.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his in laws: Alvin and Violet Jensen; and one brother-in-law, Jerry Jensen.

Doug is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Mueller of Holdrege; six children: Chris Mueller and his wife, Mickie of Norfolk, Nebraska; Leigh Root and her husband, Rich of Bel Air, Maryland; Becky Garringer and her husband, Todd of Holdrege; Kelly Burgeson and her husband, Alan of Holdrege; Brad Mueller and his wife, Ashley of Grand Island, Nebraska; Bryan Mueller and his wife, Monica of Kearney, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren: Jacob and Alexander Root; Nate, Preston (Taya), and Matthew Garringer; Madisyn, Alexah, Owen, and Elliette Burgeson; Maddix and Jaxson Mueller; Giana, Colvin, Emilia, and Zobrie Mueller; one great-grandchild, Adalynn Garringer; one brother, Brad Mueller and his wife, Jonell; three brothers-in-law: Gary Jensen of Holdrege; Tim Jensen and his wife, Patty of Lincoln, Nebraska; Kim Jensen and his wife Lisa, of Cairo, Nebraska; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial has been established in Doug's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
