Funeral Services for Douglas A. Foster will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, Nebraska with Pastor Thalia Wordworth officiating. Interment will be held in the Stamford Cemetery, Stamford, with Military Honors provided by the Stamford American Legion Merlin Palmer Post #233 in conjunction with the United States Army Military Honors Team.

Douglas Allen Foster, 66 years of age, of Stamford, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Harlan County Health Systems in Alma, Nebraska. Doug was born October 1, 1948 in Oxford, Nebraska, the second of five children born to George and Velma M. (Stagemeyer) Foster. He received his primary education and graduated from Stamford High School, with the class of 1966.

Following his education, Doug was inducted into the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War.

In 1972, he was united in marriage to Gwen Nixon in Denver, Colorado. The family made their home in Colorado later moving to Stamford. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Heather. They later divorced.

Doug worked for Foster Construction, his father's construction company until 1978. He later worked for Burlington Northern Railroad until 1984 when he was involved in a motorcycle accident.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger years and later after fixing his Harley, he enjoyed riding again.

Besides his parents; he was preceded by ex-wife and friend, Gwen and a niece, Stefanie Florom.

Doug leaves to celebrate his life; his daughter: Heather Gardner and her husband, Christopher of Stamford, Nebraska; two grandchildren: Brier Crump and her husband, Timmy of Queens City, Missouri and Jacob Gardner of Gibbs, Missouri; two great-grandchildren: Karter and Anna Crump; sister, Deanna Reynolds and her husband, Kent of Loomis, Nebraska; brothers, Dennis Foster and his wife, Susan of Stamford, James Foster, and his wife, Susan of Hillsdale, Wyoming and Richard Foster of Stamford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford

A memorial has been established in Doug's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
