Funeral services for Duane E. Beachler will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Dale Lambert, officiating. Interment will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Duane Evert Beachler, 79 years of age of Funk, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. He was born on November 1, 1930 at Reynolds, Nebraska, the eldest of two sons born to Ira and LaRue (Simmons) Beachler. He received his education at Reynolds, where he graduated from Reynolds High School with the class of 1949. After graduation, he engaged in farming with his father three miles west of Reynolds.
On September 3, 1950 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Linderman and to this union three children were born: Sandra, Diane and Gary. The family made their home at Reynolds until moving to Enders, Nebraska where they resided for a year and Duane was employed as the assistant manager for the CO-OP. In 1960, the family settled to Holdrege where Duane was employed by the Holdrege CO-OP and also continued to farm. In 1980, Duane and Dorothy moved to Funk where he owned and operated Beachler Implement until the late 1980s. Duane continued to be active with farming and trucking even at the time of his passing.
He enjoyed playing cards and attending the grandchildren's activities and sporting events. This September the couple would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary in 1979; son-in-law, Donald Gange; great-grandson, Trae Gange-Wigget; brother-in-laws: Donald Linderman, Ed Steffens and George Kenning.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Dorothy of Funk; two daughters: Sandy Beachler of Funk and Diane Gange of Holdrege; four grandchildren: Derek Gange of Holdrege, Donielle Gange of Funk, Karla Beachler of Holdrege and Jayme Beachler of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; great-grandson, Alex Gange-Wigget of Funk; brother, Roscoe Beachler and his wife, Marcella of Fairbury, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Ruth Steffens of Lincoln, Nebraska, Janis Kenning of Fairbury; brother-in-law: Jim Linderman and his wife, Marlene of Lincoln; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
