Edna Mae Dutcher, 83 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Hastings, Nebraska) passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Edna was born October 11, 1928 in Bloomington, Nebraska, the youngest of 12 children born to Frank and Olive (Parker) Harger. Edna received her education in Bloomington, graduating from Bloomington High School as the Valedictorian with the class of 1946.
She was united in marriage to Tracy Long and to this union two daughters were born: Betty and Ruth. She was later married to Edward F. Dutcher. Edward passed away in June 1984.
Besides her parents and husband, Edward, Edna was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty J. Grummert; and all of her 11 siblings.
Edna is survived by her nephew, Frank Hogsett and his wife, Joyce of Littleton, Colorado; granddaughter, Sharon (Grummert) Struss and her special friend, Ron Felton of Chadron, Nebraska; grandson, Roger Grummert of Celina, Ohio; great-grandchildren: James Struss, Jr., Devin Struss, Amanda, Zachary and Matthew; 3 great-great-grandchildren; Natalie Fayth, Daniel Alexander and Blayse. Other survivors include her daughter, Ruth Kempf and husband, Steve of Adams County, Nebraska and their children and great-grandchildren.
The family has chosen to honor Edna's request for anatomical donation to the Nebraska Anatomical Board and private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to help defray the costs of the final arrangements and may be sent to Sharon D. Struss, 357 Cedar St., Chadron, Nebraska 69337.
