A Memorial Service for Edward G. Mitchell was held at the Evangel Assembly of God Church in Peoria, Arizona and his body was laid to rest next to his wife at the Moses Hill Cemetery in Phelps County, Nebraska.
Edward George Mitchell, former resident of Arlington Heights, Illinois for over 40 years, passed away quietly in his home in Peoria, Arizona on August 17, 2007. Mr. Mitchell was known for his outstanding work in the computer and data processing industry (Edward Mitchell and Company), as well more recently for his real estate brokerage in Arizona before his retirement years. Sponsored by his uncle, Nicholas Lattof, founder of Lattof Chevrolet, Edward came to America from his birthplace in Alexandria, Egypt with his brother, Alfred Mitchell of Mitchell Jewelers, in 1948. Later, Mr. Mitchell was to meet his wife, Dorothy (nee Swanberg) at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, long before dancing was just for the stars. The couple was married at the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, where Edward was to serve as a faithful trustee and treasurer for the early building program.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and partner, Dorothy for over 52 years and his older brother, Fred Mitchell, and his parents. He leaves behind his two much cherished daughters: Gretchen Gullo and her husband, Ross of Park Ridge, IL and Natalie Kleefisch and her husband, Mark of Plainfield, IL; two special grandchildren: Rose Mitchell and Mallory Gullo, as well as Stacy, Isaac, Levi and Katie Kleefisch; his kind sisters: Yvonne Habib and her husband, Nazir and Mary Takla; his younger brother, Alfred Mitchell and his wife, Esther of Sarasota, Florida; and many favorite nephews, nieces and cousins. He will be remembered for his devout love for family, God and country…and for his sincere integrity in business and life.
His two daughters wish to thank all those who have remembered the family during this time of bereavement, knowing that their father is resting peacefully in the arms of their Father in Heaven. They "give thanks with a grateful heart."
A memorial has been established in his memory.
