Edward Lewis "Ed" Stump, 63 years of age, of Funk, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at his home in Funk surrounded by his family, after three and half years of battling cancer. Ed was born August 22, 1956, in Franklin, Nebraska, the eldest of five children to Edward "Duane" and Glenda Mae (Schriner) Stump. Ed received his primary education at Oxford, graduating from Oxford High School with the class of 1974. He then pursued higher education at Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska, and then received his Associates Degree from Central Community College in Grand Island, Nebraska.
On April 27, 1991, he was united in marriage to Shelly Lynn Reynolds at the United Methodist Church in Hastings, Nebraska, and to this union two children were born: Quinton Duane and Tessa Kaitlyn. The family made their home in Funk. Ed was employed by Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege as an Electronic Technician, retiring this past November after 43 years of service to the company.
Throughout the years, Ed enjoyed being involved as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader; active with 4-H helping the kids with their pigs and horses; loved to travel and camp with his family; and always loved the open road on his motorcycle. Family was always of utmost importance to him, whether it was attending a movie, holidays, or just a night at home, Ed treasured the time he spent with his family. After being diagnosed with cancer, many fond memories were made on their family trip to Hawaii.
Besides his parents and grandparents; Ed was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bobby Reynolds; and several aunts and uncles.
Ed leaves to celebrate his life; his wife of 29 years, Shelly Stump of Funk; one son, Quinton Stump of Bellevue, Nebraska; one daughter, Tessa Stump of Hays, Kansas; his mother-in-law, Diana West of Hastings; two brothers: Bradley Stump of Oxford; and Everett Stump and his wife, Joy of Norfolk, Nebraska; two sisters: Malinda Poley of Oxford; and Edith Stump of Byron, Ohio; brothers-in-law: Tracy Sites and his wife, Robyn of Lake Ozark, Missouri; and Sean West and his wife, Brooke of Hastings; sister-in-law, Terry Parker of Hastings; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
